Rugna Seva Prakalp
Rugna Seva Prakalp was the result of sustained motivating efforts of Dr. Bhalachandra G. Sathaye, Secretary and by profession a doctor in Ayurveda in May, 1991.
Organisation Profile and Brief Introduction
- Rugna Seva Prakalp, Miraj, was started his work in 1988 and registered as Charitable Trust and Society in 1991. (Reg. No Mah / 2996/sangli date 4th May 1991, and F / 2889/sangli date 16th July 1991) In first stage we are conducting small occasional programmes like Health Camps, Health Awareness Lectures, Blood Group Directory Service, Blood Donation Camps, Medical Appliances Aid Centre etc.
- We have started Ambulance service for poor in 1992 on no loss-no-profit basis.
- We have conducted State Level Convention at Miraj in collaboration with LSPSS Coimbatore on “Promotion of Local Health Traditional ” in 1993. Dr. G. G. Gangadharan and Dr. Darshan Shankar founder of ADS Karjat attended the same.
- We are involved in Earthquake relief work in 1993 that hit Marathawada Region of Maharashtra. Our Ambulance and team of devoted worker worked in the area for one month. We also collected cloths, grain, and other required material and supplied to the authority of the area.
- We have started Kisan Nursery Project in 1994, as income generation activity for sustainable organisational development.
- In 1996 we are Registered under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act 1967 our Reg. No. 083960057
- We are actively participated in the NEAC Programme since 1995. This programme is addressing the issue of Environmental Awareness through various activities.
- Government of Maharashtra allotted land, area near about 27000 sq. for “Health Complex Project” which includes, Herbal plantation, Treatment Center, Yoga Center, Laboratory, Community Health Training Center, Research and Documentation facility. The construction of First Phase is started on 7th March 2000. We are raising local funds for the same.
At This stage partly construction is completed and we need support for some completion of Yoga Hall.
Child Death Study in Maharashtra – 1998-2000
We have participated in this programme along with other NGOs in Maharashtra. We found that Child death is a common problem spread all over Maharashtra in Rural , Tribal and Urban areas also.
Ankur Project – 2001 onwards
We have Started Home Base Neonatal Care Project under the guidance of well known social worker Dr. Abhay Bang, Gadchiroli. In this project we are providing the health service to women and child for controlling the child death issue in Maharashtra.
Women SHG Programme
We have started Women Self Help Group Programme in 20 villages and promoted 100 SHG’s in the area. We also promoted income generation activities like Animal Husbandry, Poultry, Goatry etc. to these groups.
Promotion of Herbs
We have developed Herbal Nursery at Miraj. We promoted the Traditional Health practices through women groups in 20 villages from Miraj taluka.
Youth Development Center (YDC)
We have started Youth Development Center with the help NYK New Delhi for addressing and facilitating the youth development programmes in the area. Center started working from March 2004.
Drought Relief work
In the year 2003-2004 Maharashtra along with Sangli dist badly affected by drought. RSP is actively involved in the drought relief programme. We have organised Cattle Camp at village Patgaon and also fodder distribution programme in the area.
-
Drought Relief work-For collective action we organised LSU programme of CAPART for drought proofing purpose and near about 50 organisations participated in the same. We aware the farmers for the cropping pattern and water scarcity position in the area. Also promoted the water harvesting methods.
Support Organisation Status
Jalswarajya Project
(Ministry of Water Supply and Sanitation) Our organiation is selected as support organisation ( SO ) for Sangli and Ratnangari District of Maharashtra.
We are creating people participation through awareness creation, capacity building and women empowerment activities. We also conducting the various training programme and participatory Rural Appraisal PRA activities, VAP and Women empowerment plan in the selected villages under the project.
State Designated Agency (SDA)
Recently Ministry of Agriculture Department of Horticulture Govt. of India New- Delhi, has allotted State Designated Agency (SDA) status to Rugna Seva Prakalp, Miraj.
As per sanction from Ministry have completed Techno economic feasibility Study in the district for central sponsored scheme of integrated horticulture development programme for hilly area.
Over all now days we are working in the field of Health, Education, Environmental Protection and Social and Women Development, in villages from Miraj Taluka of Dist. Sangli, Maharashtra. This area is known drought porn area of the Sangli dist.
SOS Net Work (Prevention of Trafficking of women and Child)
We are actively involved in the anti trafficking activity since last three years. Our area is the prominent one and near by Karnataka State, which is badly known trafficking vulnerable area.
Apart from that the percentage of HIV affected peoples is very high and we are under taking various activities in the area.
Flood Relief Work 2005-2007
The flood due to river Krishna affects Sangli District. Our organisation worked in this grave situation. I our Relief Operation mainly we delivered Health Care Service to the affected peoples in the area. Also provided safe drinking water packets, cooked food, cloths and fodder for the animals.
CASTROL CRB PLUS Watershed Campaign
With the help of corporate sector company CASTROL which are the prominent oil manufactures, we have implemented this programme in Sangli and Solapur Districts of Maharashtra in this programme Awareness and action components are included and near about 40 villages are covered by communication programme in each district and action component in eight villages. This includes the extension pipeline and drinking water tanks in the uncovered area preferred backward class population areas or extension area of the village.
Training Center Complex
We are completing the construction of our training Canter and office complex in Miraj City. The area of land is admeasuring 28000 Sqf and construction of 1st phase is 1500 Sqf
